How this review was made: from the manufacturer's published specifications, the live Amazon listing, and recurring themes in owner commentary. The Grand Ledger does not claim hands-on testing it has not done, and publishes no scores.

1

Design and the filter stack

The 211i Max is a cylinder wrapped in a washable fabric pre-filter, in grey and white, standing 22.7 inches tall on a 14.4 inch square footprint. Air enters through the fabric sleeve on every side and leaves from the top, which makes placement forgiving in the middle of a large room. Inside, Blueair's HEPASilent system pairs mechanical filtration with electrostatic charging, and the listing describes a particle filter with activated carbon for light household odours. The pre-filter sleeve is the maintenance hero: it takes the dust and hair load first and can be vacuumed or washed, and the main F2MAX cartridge beneath it is a single part that swaps as one piece.

What the published figures say in practice

A CADR of 410 cfm means the maker rates this unit for 635 square feet at the AHAM recommended air change rate, 1,524 square feet in 30 minutes, or up to 3,048 square feet in a full hour at a slower rate. In a real 500 to 600 square foot living space that translates to running it a speed or two below maximum for steady cleaning, which is where its 23 to 53 dB range earns its keep: the low speeds are bedroom quiet, and only the top of the range announces itself. The app reports particle readings by size and drives auto mode, so the fan spends most of its life at the quiet end and climbs only when the room asks it to.

Ownership themes

Owners consistently praise two things: how much longer surfaces stay visibly dust free once it runs daily, and how quickly the fabric sleeve cleans up with a vacuum. Pet households rate the sleeve especially, since it intercepts hair before the cartridge. The recurring complaints are about scale rather than performance: the cartridge is a bulky spare to store, the unit is a deliberate two handed carry between rooms, and a minority of owners needed a second try at WiFi pairing. Filter changes are infrequent by category standards, but the cartridge is a premium part when its turn comes.
4

Where it does not fit

In a small bedroom the 211i Max is simply more machine than the room can use, and its footprint will crowd the floor. It also asks you to accept Blueair's single cartridge approach: there is no separate cheap carbon layer to swap when odours fade, because the carbon is part of the main filter. Buyers who want granular manual control on the body, rather than in an app, may find its minimal interface austere.

The 211i Max is the rare large room purifier whose published numbers hold together in every direction at once.

From the verdict

In Owners' Hands

Recurring themes, in aggregate and without numbers we cannot stand behind.

What owners praise

  • Owners say the visible dust film on shelves and sills returns far more slowly once it runs daily
  • The app air quality history graph is praised for being readable at a glance across the room
  • Pet households like that the fabric sleeve vacuums clean in a couple of minutes

What owners question

  • Some owners find the single large replacement cartridge awkward to store as a spare
  • Carrying it between floors draws comment, as it is a two handed lift for most people
  • A minority of owners needed a second attempt to finish the WiFi pairing on set up day

Consider Instead

Coway Airmega 250S

Roughly two thirds of the CADR in a body less than half the depth, with app scheduling and a Rapid mode, if the 211i Max is too large for the wall it must stand against.

Blueair Blue Pure 311i Max

The same HEPASilent approach and 23 dB quiet, scaled to medium rooms with a 250 cfm listing CADR, if your largest room is under 400 square feet.

Questions, Answered

Is the 211i Max too much for a 300 square foot room?

It will clean it easily, but you would be paying for airflow you cannot use and giving it the largest footprint in this guide. The 311i Max or the Vital 200S fit that room size on their published ratings, at a lower tier.

How does HEPASilent differ from a standard HEPA filter?

As Blueair publishes it, HEPASilent combines mechanical filtration with electrostatic charging of particles, which the maker credits for delivering its CADR at lower noise and energy than mechanical filtration alone. The rating that matters for comparison, the AHAM CADR of 410 cfm, is measured on the same basis as every other unit in this guide.
